Meet the Artist

There is no clear path to becoming a tattoo artist.
We all find our way eventually…

The open space and slow pace of a rural Saskatchewan upbringing allowed ample time to foster my imagination as well as my artistic endeavours.  With no direct path to a standard career I decided to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Saskatoon. I began acquiring tattoos as any good punk rock kid would at the time.  A degree led to massive student loans which, in turn, led me to Taiwan to teach English. It was there that I began to collect much larger tattoos predominately by Taiwanese Master Diau-An. He became a pivotal mentor giving me the encouragement to pursue tattooing as a career.

Returning to Canada (Vancouver to be specific) with drawing portfolios in hand, I secured an apprenticeship.  From there it all seemed to move rather quickly. After a brief period at Funhouse, I transitioned to Tattoo Union in 2008 and at this time I began tattooing.  By 2013, I opened my own studio, Paradigm Tattoo. In 2016, my wife and I relocated from Vancouver to Victoria, taking Paradigm Tattoo with us. Today, I continue to operate from the same Fort Street studio in downtown Victoria, BC.

I take this job seriously.  It envelops most aspects of my life and I constantly attempt to give my clients the energy which they deserve. I pride myself on being prepared and professional. Each tattoo that I produce is a representation of me and my capabilities.  My concern is in producing quality artwork that excites both me and my clientele.

I want to be proud of the tattoos I create.

I want my clients to be equally as proud to wear them.

The Studio

In September of 2013 I opened Paradigm Tattoo in Vancouver, BC. After three years in this location, 2016 marked the move of my tattoo studio to Victoria, BC. The private, appointment based studio aesthetic has remained the same. Having no external signage and no walk-in traffic, all inquiries (scheduling and otherwise) should be directed to my email tattoos@cohenfloch.com.

In opening this studio my goal has been to create an atmosphere in which I myself would enjoy being tattooed.  A focus on my clients and the work at hand can be found in the calm and quiet of this space.  Much gratitude for all of the support past, present, and future.

  • "Best tattoo experience yet. Such a calm and peaceful setting, it really made the sessions easy to get through! Cohen was easy to chat with and I have the most beautiful piece of artwork on my arm now. He took my ideas and turned them into an amazing custom piece."
